WHAT IS IT?

Agua de Olivo is a food supplement made from an extract of organically grown olive leaves. It has the same antioxidant properties as olive oil but without the fat content. The polyphenols contained in the product have a protective effect on the body, ensuring an antioxidant action and helping to prevent damage in the oxidative tissues.

Olive polyphenols create antioxidant activity which can help protect your LDL cholesterol and the oxidation of lipids. It also helps to clean free radicals from cells, helping to protect you from the damage caused by the free radicals which are generated by pollution. This is a serious issue these days, especially in large cities.

All these benefits have been indicated by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Benefits

Olive leaves have been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. Some cultures used the leaves as a natural remedy to lower fevers and to heal cuts, etc.

In the 19th century, olive leaves were used to combat malaria. At the time, there were reports of a bitter substance produced by infusing olive leaves and it was shown to be the agent responsible for recovering from malaria and its associated fevers.

Agua de Olivo (olive water) is known to have many benefits, and there are also many others which have not yet been medically proven but which we are sure will be soon. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has already certified a number of them.

At present, the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) has recognised the following properties:

– Low in calories.
– Hydrating and refreshing.
– Great antioxidant abilities, absorbable by 99% of the body.
– A protective effect on the body, ensuring an antioxidant action.
– Helps to protect LDL cholesterol.
– Help to clean out free radicals which cause aging in cells.
– Helps to protect against the damage caused by free radicals generated by pollution.
– Contributes to maintaining blood pressure.
– Regulates insulin levels.
– Traditionally used to help blood flow and blood pressure.

Other benefits documented in studies:

Phenolic content and antioxidant activity of olive by-products and antioxidant film containing olive leaf extract

Did you know?

Olive leaves have been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. In ancient Egypt, the olive leaf was a symbol of the divine and a popular remedy to combat various illnesses. The introduction of olive tree cultivation coincided with the expansion of Mediterranean civilisations and the leaves were often used in traditional remedies in Mediterranean and European cultures.

In the 19th century, olive leaves were used to combat malaria. At the time, there were reports of a bitter substance produced by infusing olive leaves and it was shown to be the agent responsible for recovering from malaria and its associated fevers.

Agua de Olivo is made using an absolutely artisanal extraction process, in the form of an infusion. The olive leaves are gathered in the Sierra Sur region of Jaén in Andalusia (Spain), specifically around the towns of Alcaudete and Martos. This area is the cradle of the olive tree, a place where the sun and nature have been a part of the culture since time immemorial, a place where family businesses are paramount.
